J Balvin and Valentina Ferrer have parted ways after around eight years together.
In a message posted to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, the Argentine actress-model announced that she and the Colombian singer had broken up.
“After sharing so many years and important moments together, José and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote in the statement, translated from Spanish. “It has been a decision made out of love, respect, and the desire to do the best for our family.”
Balvin, born José Álvaro Osorio Balvin, and Ferrer started dating in 2018. The former Miss Argentina winner co-starred in the music video for the superstar’s 2016 song, Sigo Extrañándote.
They welcomed a son, Rio, in June 2021.
“Our priority will always be to give Rio all of our love. We are going through this process calmly and deeply appreciate the understanding and respect toward this very personal moment for us,” the 32-year-old added.
Representatives for Balvin have not yet commented on the breakup news.
Over the past month, fans have speculated about the couple’s relationship status, with many noting that Ferrer wasn’t at the 41-year-old’s show at the Rock in Rio festival held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last weekend.
The fashion star also recently posted Karol G’s breakup song, Alguien que te amaba.
