Jack Osbourne Says Mom Sharon Feels the ‘Outpour of Love’ After Ozzy Osbourne’s Death

The rocker’s son noted that not many members of their family have read Last Rites, the memoir Osbourne completed days before his death, out Oct. 7

The Osbournes are still feeling the love following the death of Ozzy Obsourne. Jack Osbourne appeared on Good Morning America to share how the family has been faring since the metal legend died in July, and reflect on their relationship ahead of the posthumous memoir, Last Rites.

“None of us expected it to be like this with that outpour of love,” Obsourne said. Speaking about how his mother Sharon Osbourne has been, he added, “When people have been asking me that question, I say she’s OK, but she’s not OK.”

Last Rites, set for release on Oct. 7, was completed in the weeks before Ozzy’s death. The final chapter of the book was the hardest for younger Osbourne the read, he said. In a separate Q&A about the release, Osbourne noted that “not many of the family members have read the book yet — it’s been difficult time for everyone. For me, the last chapter is what I’ve reflected on the most. He finished it just a few days before he passed.”

The memoir was one of two final farewells Ozzy was able to complete before he died. In the weeks before, he also delivered his final concert performance with Black Sabbath. “Here’s the truth—my father fought a very hard fight to get on that stage in Birmingham on July 5,” Osbourne said. “He was determined to say goodbye to his fans, and that’s exactly what he did. He loved them deeply because they gave him the life he had. He always said he would have been nothing without their love and support. That last show was his way of giving back one final time.”

On Good Morning America, he added, “Before he went onstage, I ran back into the dressing room and I just gave him a big hug. I just kissed him. I was like, ‘Crush it. You’re going to do so good.’ And I was crying. I was in the crowd with my brother and we both were just crying.”

Ozzy’s final years were captured in the documentary Ozzy: No Escape From Now, also arriving on Oct. 7 via Paramount+.
