Jack White has called Donald Trump “disgusting” over his remarks about Rob Reiner’s passing.

The White Stripes frontman stepped up to defend the late movie director’s name after the US President claimed Reiner’s son Nick had murdered him for his political views.

“Trump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac loser, child,” White, 50, wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of the politician’s original Truth Social post.

“Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this.”

When Harry Met Sally director Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on the weekend. Their son Nick, 32, was later arrested by officers from the LAPD.

On Monday, Trump wrote that Reiner and his wife had “passed away” because of “the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

He also mocked what he described as Reiner’s “raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump”.

In his response, White praised the movie-industry great.

“God bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world,” he wrote. “I never even met you and I still stand by you.”
