Her 11th studio album, aptly titled Living the Dream, made waves by debuting at Number 10 on the main Official Albums Chart. This marks Jane’s fifth Top 10 LP in a remarkable career spanning 28 years. Perhaps most impressively, the record was released on her very own independent label, Jeanie Productions, proving that the “Queen of Cruise” has successfully navigated the transition to the independent era without harboring a single regret.
Speaking to Official Charts, an ecstatic Jane shared her disbelief: “It’s impossible to express just how much this means to me. To have hit the Top 10 and the Independent Number 1 spot is incredible. It’s almost 30 years since I released my first Number 1 album, so to be enjoying this success now is beyond my wildest dreams.”
The album represents a creative shift for the star, featuring a distinct nod to country music and having been recorded in the legendary studios of Nashville. The strategy clearly paid off; alongside her chart success, Jane also secured the Number 1 spot on the Official Record Store Chart, a feat bolstered by an extensive in-store tour across the UK.
True to form, Jane’s celebration plans are refreshingly down-to-earth. “I’m going to celebrate, you can bet your bottom dollar,” she told Official Charts. “Probably with copious amounts of alcohol and crisps—that’s me!”
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the star in action. Jane is set to perform in the prestigious “Gay Icon” slot at London’s Mighty Hoopla on Sunday, May 31. Promising the “biggest party we’ve ever been to,” Jane teased a show-stopping performance: “If I can pull off what I think I’m going to do, I’ll just drop the mic.”
