A New York judge has ruled that the identity of the woman who accused Jay-Z, real name Sean Carter, of raping her when she was 13 years old be kept secret.
The decision comes after the rap mogul’s lawyer pushed for her name to be revealed.
Judge Analisa Torres scolded Alex Spiro for being combative and attempting to “fast-track” the judicial process after filing a request to deny the alleged victim’s request to remain anonymous.
“Carter’s lawyer’s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client,” Torres said.
“The Court will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it.”
The woman – referred to only as Jane Doe in her suit – accused Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of raping her at an after-party for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
In court papers, the alleged victim claims she was asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement when she got to the after-party residence.
She was then allegedly drugged after being served a drink and attacked by Combs and Carter as an unnamed female celebrity looked on.
