Jelly Roll “not welcomed” in Florida Panhandle says congressman after calling Trump “full of shit” in roast

A congressman in Florida has said that Jelly Roll is “not welcomed” in Florida, following the singer calling Donald Trump a “fat pig” and “full of shit”.

The singer took aim at the US President during his time hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! – stepping in as a guest host while Kimmel takes a break.

During a recent episode, Jelly Roll told the live audience in a monologue that he had lost 300 pounds – the equivalent of “an entire Donald Trump”. He then poked fun at the president’s physique, saying: “Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important”.

Then, after dividing some opinions with the comments, Jelly Roll doubled down on his stance when hosting the show again two nights later.

“I thought fat-on-fat crime was OK!” he quipped. “We can debate whether this president is mentally fit, but I think we can all agree he is certainly not physically fit.”

He then introduced a parody commercial for a fake weight-loss drug called “Donjaro”. The clip showed footage of Trump, with the narrator asking: “Is your obesity making it difficult for you to focus on the things you love?” and “Does your butt bulge in ways that defy the laws of physics?”.

After the fake advertisement was shown, Jelly Roll took aim at Trump again. “Wouldn’t it be nice to see Trump lose something besides the war, his popularity and most of his fucking marbles?”

“I believe in you, Mr. President,” he added. “With a little hard work, one day your waistline will be just as thin as your skin.”

During other moment of him hosting the late night chat show, the Grammy winner also criticised the president’s “ridiculous” trade war with Canada, and dismissed accusations from Fox News’ Jesse Walters about his weight loss.

Walters had previously accused the singer of being on Ozempic, and said that he had the side effect of “Trump Derangement Syndrome”. In response, Jelly Roll joked: “First of all, Jesse, I’ll have you know Ozempic is the only drug I haven’t tried… I lost weight the old fashioned way: cocaine.”

The White House has yet to comment on the comments made by Jelly Roll on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, although a politician in Florida has made his stance clear.

Republican congressman for Florida’s first congressional district, Jimmy Patronis, has taken to X/Twitter to criticise the musician for his remarks on the show, writing: “Jelly Roll is 100 per cent not welcomed to Florida’s panhandle. I don’t even want to see his bus on I-10”.

He also called the singer a “loser” and doubled down on the accusations of him having “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.

“He’s always been the token ‘country’ star the libs in California are allowed to enjoy. (He ain’t country, never was.),” the politician wrote. “Take the TDS elsewhere, loser.”

The comments about Trump come following Jelly Roll previously distancing himself from politics over recent years.

In 2024, after being spotted shaking hands and smiling with Trump at a UFC match at Madison Square Garden in New York, the singer insisted that it didn’t reveal anything about his political stance.

“Meeting President Trump was cool. Ultimately, I don’t really care [about] any blowback I get about it,” he said. “The truth is: it was really cool to meet the president.”

He continued: “Dude, there’s not a chance in hell that I’m not going to meet the president-elect. I don’t care. If I got a call to meet Joe Biden, I would have stopped at any point and [met] him. That’s the active president. I don’t care about what he thinks or I think about policies.”

“I don’t hide behind the ‘I’m not political stuff’. I’m not political! People who actually know me know I’m also one of the old-school dudes,” he added. “I like to talk about things I’m passionate about. With that, I like to know about it. I don’t know enough about politics to act like I know anything that’s going on or what anybody’s standing for policy-wise.”
