Jeremy Allen White Covers Springsteen Classics on ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ Soundtrack

Jeremy Allen White’s renditions of nine Bruce Springsteen classics will appear on the official soundtrack for the upcoming biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which will be released in full on Dec. 5 via Columbia Records.

The track list mostly comprises songs from Springsteen’s classic 1982 album, Nebraska, as the movie centers around the creation of that LP. But White also cut a few songs from Nebraska’s blockbuster 1984 follow-up, Born in the U.S.A., including the title track and “I’m on Fire.”

Capping off the soundtrack are renditions of two blues and early rock & roll standards that Springsteen has covered in the past: Little Richard’s “Lucille” and John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom.” Interestingly, there’s also a performance of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell on You,” which there’s no record of Springsteen having ever performed publicly.

The Deliver Me From Nowhere soundtrack was produced by Dave Cobb. It features additional contributions from Rival Sons singer Jay Buchanan, Greta Van Fleet’s Jake and Sam Kiszka, bassist Aksel Coe, and keys player Bobby Emmett. (These musicians are credited alongside White for the renditions of “Lucille,” “Boom Boom,” and “I Put a Spell on You.”)

The Deliver Me From Nowhere film is set to arrive on Oct. 24, with five songs from the soundtrack coming out that day, too: “Nebraska,” “Atlantic City,” “Mansion on the Hill,” “I’m on Fire,” and “Born in the U.S.A.” The full soundtrack will be released digitally, as well as on CD and vinyl, on Dec. 5.

Along with White, Deliver Me From Nowhere stars Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s longtime manager, Jon Landau. The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron, and David Krumholtz. Deliver Me From Nowhere was written and directed by Scott Cooper, based off of Warren Zanes’ book of the same name.
