John Lydon has claimed the Sex Pistols completely ignored his wife’s death.

The former punk-rock frontman had not spoken to his bandmates for years, but told The Times he was still surprised when none of them contacted him after the passing of his wife of 44 years, Nora Forster.

Neither the band’s guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, nor original bassist Glen Matlock reached out, John told the outlet.

“I expected some kind of connection when Nora died,” he said, “but nothing.”

Nora died in 2023 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease – an event John, 69, described as “the greatest tragedy in my life so far”.

He said the agony of losing his life partner led him to contemplate killing himself.

“You have to consider all the possibilities because that kind of pain is so overwhelming,” the musician reflected.

Elsewhere in the interview, John, whose stage name with the band was Johnny Rotten, described his experience of the ageing process and said he was revelling in getting older.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to be (turning) 70,” he gushed.

“At 21 I remember locking the doors and turning off the phone – I thought I was an old git. But it ain’t like that. Some people die old disgracefully, I want to be one of them.”
