John Summit speaks out after Travis Scott allegedly “forced his way” on to stage after showing up late to shut show down

John Summit has spoken out after an incident in France where Travis Scott allegedly “forced” his way onto the stage and interrupted his set after showing up late.

The alleged moment took place on Sunday night (June 7) at the Lilly’s Club Monte Carlo in Monaco, where there was a shared billing between the US DJ and Travis Scott.

However, according to various reports, things didn’t go as expected on the night as Travis Scott allegedly showed up late to the gig and interrupted Summit’s set.

Footage from the venue, which has now gone viral, shows Summit midway through his set, when Travis Scott takes to the stage, climbs over his decks and starts performing to the crowd.

Taking to social media after the gig, Summit voiced his frustrations at the move, saying that the gig was “insane” and “out of control”.

“My show got shut down due to another artist showing up late and forcing his way onto the stage,” he wrote. “Love you all that were there to dance and have a good time.”

He also shared a clip of him playing his song ‘Go Back’ earlier in the set, with the caption “I wanna go back (onstage to finish my performance)”, as well as footage of production director John Fink telling off members of the crowd for pushing past Summit during the gig.

The latter shows people in the audience pushing to get towards the front of the stage, where Summit was stood, and Fink can be heard telling a man in the crowd “don’t fucking touch him like that.”

Travis Scott has not yet publicly spoken about what happened at the Monaco gig. NME has reached out to his team for comment.

Summit is set to headline this year’s edition of Lollapalooza alongside Lorde, Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, Olivia Dean, Jennie, Tate McRae and The xx, and will also be embarking on a North American arena tour later this autumn.

Last week, the Illinois DJ and record producer spoke about the mixed reaction he saw towards the news he was headlining the Chicago festival – saying that he has seen a lot of people online asking “who the fuck” he is.

“I was like, ‘Damn, I thought I was doing pretty well’… but I still have a lot of heads to turn,” he said, also adding that dance artists need to “prove themselves more than pop artists”.

Summit is a huge name in the dance world, having kicked off his career in 2017 and dropped the hit house single ‘Deep End’ in 2020. His debut album ‘Comfort In Chaos’ arrived in July 2024, and he followed it up with the sophomore record ‘Ctrl Escape’ earlier this year.

The Chicago festival takes place between July 30 to August 2 this year, and will be held at the usual Grant Park location. Others on the bill include Geese, Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Ethel Cain, Turnstile, Lil Uzi Vert, CMAT, Little Simz, Zara Larsson, Clipse, The Neighbourhood, Yungblud, Beabadoobee, and Sombr.

Before the headline tour and the Lollapalooza slot, Summit will be playing a residency at Ibiza’s [UNVRS] in July, and also performing at Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium.

As for Travis Scott, the rapper recently featured on Kanye West’s song ‘Father’ – which appeared on his his 12th studio album ‘Bully’ – and also was seen in the new trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey.

At the end of 2025, Scott wrapped up his huge 85-stop ‘Circus Maximus Tour’ in Mumbai, after kicking off back in October 2023 in celebration of his album ‘Utopia’. It was later revealed it was the highest-grossing solo rap tour in history, grossing $250million (£189million) and selling more than 2.2million tickets in over 20 countries.
