Jordan Stephens has broken his silence about his split from Jade Thirlwall.
Last week, it was reported that the Rizzle Kicks frontman and former Little Mix singer had parted ways after six years together, and he confirmed the news on his weekly podcast Miss Me?
Jordan told his co-host Miquita Oliver that he was “uncomfortable” with his private life becoming a public news story, and that he didn’t want to give any “specificity and insight” into the split because he had “still not processed” it.
“I’m very conflicted because I definitely pride myself on being open and transparent,” he shared. “But this is a difficult one because, if I’m to believe how quickly speculation can arise, I’m always a couple of words or sentences away from making things worse.
“I’m definitely going to talk and write, I think, once things have settled a bit.”
Jordan admitted that he doesn’t know how The Sun’s reporters found out about the break-up, and he doesn’t want to say more about it and feed the press cycle.
“Right now, I’m silent, Jade’s silent,” he continued. “People are making all types of wild f**king (theories), as they would always do, and desperately waiting for one of us to unfollow each other or waiting for one of us to post; the metrics are bizarre.”
The Down with the Trumpets hitmaker admitted he was in a “weird” situation as it would have felt disingenuous to go on the podcast and “pretend that isn’t happening”, yet he also wants to “protect people”.
Jordan, who officially replaced Lily Allen as the Miss Me? co-host last month, added that he wasn’t trying to be “too cryptic” and will likely talk about it more in the future.
Jordan, 34, and Jade, 33, started a relationship in 2020 after meeting on Zoom during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The Angel of My Dreams singer has yet to address the split publicly.
