After KATSEYE canceled its performance at Daisy Chain Fields due to Megan spraining her ankle a few days prior, the star showed off her gnarly injury to fans on Weverse during a Tuesday (Sept. 1) livestream.
While chatting casually with bandmates Yoonchae in Lara in a hotel room, Megan asked, “Should I show how swollen my ankle is?”
“I have to show a picture,” she continued. “It was the sign of a tennis ball, guys. It was bad.”
The 20-year-old Hawaii native then pulled up photos of her injured left ankle, which was bruised red and visibly enlarged compared to her right.
“My ankle was purple,” she said as Yoonchae and Lara gasped at the photos, adding that the sprained ankle has returned to its “normal color,” although still “a little swollen.”
KATSEYE had been scheduled to perform at Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural charity festival on Aug. 29 in Irvine, Calif., but announced two days prior that it had been forced to withdraw from the lineup due to Megan’s injury. The performer also addressed fans in an individual statement, writing on her Instagram Story, “I sprained my ankle during tour rehearsal and my doctors have advised me to stay off it and let it heal so I can be ready for tour.”
“I’m heartbroken to miss Daisy Chain Fields, especially because of everything this festival stands for,” she continued at the time. “I’m sending all my love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special.”
Alt-pop singer Devon Again ended up filling in for KATSEYE at the festival, while Megan, Yoonchae and Lara made a brief appearance on stage to say hello and introduce Baby2Baby, one of the charities that benefited from Daisy Chain’s profits.
The girl group has since kicked off the Wildworld Tour, which began Tuesday in Dublin. Only four of six members took the stage, however, as Manon has been on hiatus since February and Sophia temporarily stepped away from the band in August.
KATSEYE’s new EP, WILD, debuted atop the Billboard 200, marking the band’s first-ever No. 1 on the chart.
