Kendrick Lamar was once more the big winner at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

At the prize-giving telecast held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, the rapper was presented with five gongs, including Record of the Year for Luther with SZA, and Best Rap Album for GNX.

Lamar broke the record previously set by Jay-Z for most awarded rapper at the Grammys. The Empire State of Mind rapper has 25; Lamar now has 28 Grammys under his belt.

During the non-televised Grammys premiere ceremony, Lamar won three awards, including Rap Performance for Chains & Whips on which he featured; Melodic Rap Performance for Luther with SZA; and Rap Song for TV Off.

“I’m not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music,” Lamar told the audience. “Every time I tell you this: hip hop is gonna always be right here. We gonna be in these suits, we gonna be looking good, we gonna be having our folks with us, we gonna be having the culture with us.

“I appreciate y’all,” Lamar concluded. “God is the glory. Love y’all.”

Meanwhile, Album of the Year went to Bad Bunny for Debí Tirar Más Fotos; Billie Eilish won Song of the Year for Wildflower; and Olivia Dean was named Best New Artist.

The star-studded audience was treated to performances by a who’s who of the music biz, kicking off with Bruno Mars and K-pop star Rosé’s rock-infused rendition of Apt.

Comedian and four-time Grammy nominee Trevor Noah, returned to emcee the event for his sixth and final time, dubbing it, “Like I’m at Jeff Bezos’s wedding, but with way more black people.”
