Kid Bookie teams up with Corey Taylor for intense new single ‘Blame’: “This song is almost a therapy session for me”

Kid Bookie has collaborated with Corey Taylor on the inward-looking new single ‘Blame’, which the South-East London rapper describes as like “a therapy session”.

The new track comes following the genre-defying singer making his comeback earlier this year with the empowering single ‘Rose McGowan’, which saw him team up with the activist and former Scream star.

Now, he has rejoined forces with Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, and pushed boundaries of his sound even further – tackling themes of accountability, growth, and self-reflection.

The track is the latest to be shared from an upcoming album from Kid Bookie, which is set to be officially announced later in 2026. In the new song, Bookie delivers a powerful rap vocal melody, centring around feelings of frustration and regret, before Taylor launches in with an epic chorus: “Oh my god/It’s like it won’t just stop/You’re always blaming me/For always blaming you”.

Both Bookie and Taylor have worked together before, both on singles ‘Stuck In My Ways’ which arrived in 2019 and on ‘Game’, which was released in 2022. Kid Bookie has also made music with Corey’s son Griffin, sharing a track called ‘Get Out’ last year.

“Over the years, facing myself and the reflection that comes with the mirror isn’t always an easy one. Accountability is the removal of ego and pride to see beyond your own nose, to allow yourself the room to grow via ownership of your actions,” Kid Bookie said, reflecting on the inspiration for the track.

“I’m around some of the best people who practise that in more ways than one. Corey and I have been working with each other for nearly a decade, but I feel this record is a coming of age, even for us,” he added. “New territory, but a familiar approach to make sure we embolden each other through music.

“This song is almost a therapy session for me, and not just via my own lyrics, but to how Corey has made me feel by exposing himself so bare in this record, truly an honour to keep pushing the envelope with someone who has just pushed it as far as it can go, but has completely revamped what the envelope fucking is.”

Taylor also shared his admiration for the London singer, sharing: “Books is one of my favourite people, not just artists, and every time he comes to me with an opportunity to create with him, I’m always excited because I know I’m going to hear something I’ve never heard before.

“‘Blame’ was so good the first time I heard it, I signed on without even knowing what I’d do! I’m proud of the song, and I’m proud of him, and grateful to be involved.”

The newfound sense of confidence and determination to push boundaries seen in ‘Blame’ is also carried through to the forthcoming new album as well, which will see the singer embrace vulnerability while doubling down on the intensity he has harnessed throughout his career.

Back in January, both Kid Bookie and Rose McGowan spoke to NME about the single ‘Rose McGowan’, and the former explained why he named the track – rooted in themes of resilience, and bravery – after the author and activist, even before she agreed to collaborate.

“Rose is just pure punk, and that’s rock n’ roll as you come, So having a moment in rock music where Rose is attached to it felt natural,” he said. “It’s two people that have very don’t-give-a-fuck attitudes, but who really do care [about authenticity in art].”

As for how that aligns with his forthcoming album, he added: “I’ve been every shade of a man I don’t want to be, so this is about me seeing what I can do to be the man I want to be today. I’m going through this life and growing, and this is what this project encapsulates.

“Even this song with Rose, it’s about growth. I’ve been everything I don’t want to be, so I now know who I want to be going forward.”
