Kodak Black pleads not guilty to drug trafficking charge

Kodak Black has pleaded not guilty to trafficking MDMA in Florida last year.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the Super Gremlin rapper, whose real name is Bill Kapri, appeared at a court hearing on Thursday afternoon on the drug trafficking charge.

Black entered a written plea of not guilty and asked for a jury trial. He also waived appearing in person at a future arraignment hearing in state court.

The alleged incident that took place during a November 2025 police search in Orlando, Florida.

Officers had responded to a 911 call about gunshots, and searched vehicles that were in the vicinity of the incident, according to the police report obtained by ABC News.

Black approached the officers and observed them searching the vehicles, the affidavit read. It also alleged that police had found a bag in the boot containing 56 grams of cannabis, a metal container containing a pink pill that tested positive for MDMA, and a bag containing Black’s ID and some cash.

“Everyone on scene was asked if the bag or its contents belonged to any of them, and all denied ownership, including Bill Kapri,” the report alleged.

“When Kapri was informed of the money in the bag, he attempted multiple times to have the money turned over to him, claiming it belonged to his business. Kapri, however, would not claim the bag or any of its contents,” the report stated.

The judge set his bond at $75,000 (£55,000), citing 12 previous felony convictions, two misdemeanour convictions and one failure to appear. He said the fact that Black was a rapper had “no binding”.
