Lana Del Rey has announced an untitled companion album to accompany her long-awaited record ‘Stove’.
Now, the ‘Say Yes To Heaven’ singer has given fans a positive update, announcing a “large companion album”. She added that the record was “compiled by as many people as I could find” and “a commentary of sorts on everything that has been going on”.
“So much has happened over the last four years, so much time waiting for things to come together and so much time wondering if it was ok that things were falling apart,” she wrote on Instagram. “Patience was the key, and in between the songs came new thoughts about old friends and new dreams and from the doubt of whether the tree I had been planting would grow – came new sprouts and so grew a new rose bush underneath the willow”.
She continued to say that ‘Stove’ was “a classic album, if I may say”, adding that the record was “so lovely and intact as it was intended to be”. She called both albums “two of my most beautiful pieces of work”, adding that her second album “sprouted from doubt, hopefulness, and the understanding that new beginnings truly mean starting completely fresh and over”.
The singer ended her post by writing: “When life decides to send you down another river, it’s really not your choice and it’s truly an adventure of its own. I wrote about it. Now it’s time to trust the process and go downstream. I’m so grateful to everyone who’s still on board with me. And of course, I wish the best to everyone who stayed on land. Of course I understand.
“Just kidding,” she concluded. “I thought we were in the boat together”.
In the Instagram post, Del Rey shared a number of photos of fireworks, an Independence Day party, along with an image of a vinyl featuring a Spyder vehicle on the cover.
In 2024, Del Rey announced the follow-up to her 2023 album ‘Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd‘, which she initially titled ‘Lasso‘. We spoke to Del Rey at the Ivor Novellos that year about the sound of ‘Lasso’, with her telling us: “I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic.
She added that the record would have a “more American Songbook style” of writing.
After changing its title to ‘The Right Person Will Stay‘ in 2025, Del Rey eventually settled on ‘Stove‘, telling fans to expect the record in January 2026.
Meanwhile, in 2023, we gave ‘…Ocean Blvd’ a four star review, calling it “amongst her most revealing work yet”.
‘…Ocean Blvd’ might deal with some major existential questions, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had and cements Del Rey’s status as one of modern music’s most intriguing songwriters,” we wrote.
