Lauren Bennett has died aged 36.
The British singer, who collaborated with LMFAO on the No. 1 hit Party Rock Anthem and was later a member of the G.R.L., was remembered by the group on Monday.
“Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved,” the message read.
No cause of death was given.
Bennett first made her mark competing as a teen on The X-Factor. She then joined the Paradiso Girls, a group assembled by Pussycat Dolls’ Robin Antin.
Antin later steered the singer into G.R.L, a girl group that often performed with Pitbull and teamed with him on the 2014 track Wild Wild Love.
Bennett hit a career high point with Party Rock Anthem in 2011. The song went to No. 1 on Billboard’s US Hot 100 and stayed there for six weeks. It also went to No. 1 in 20 other countries.
She segued to country music in 2017, forming the folk, country, blues and rock duo Bennett with her brother.
Bennett is the second member of G.R.L. to have passed away. In 2014, the group were on the cusp of worldwide fame with the release of their breakthrough hit, Ugly Heart, when the group’s lead singer, Simone Battle, died by suicide aged just 25.
Bennett leaves a daughter, Harlow, six, whom she shared with her partner, dancer and actor Kenny Wormald.
