Lauren Bennett’s father has spoken out about the family’s pain over her death.
The singer, a member of the hit girl group G.R.L., died at the age of 36. While no cause of death has yet been released, Bennett’s father, Richard, has issued an emotional statement on social media detailing what was going on with his daughter in the time before her death.
“Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication,” he shared.
“As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her. We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need.”
Richard added that his family is navigating “unimaginable loss” but said his daughter’s legacy “lives on through her daughter, her family, and through the music she leaves behind”.
While her former bandmates announced the news on social media this week, it’s since been reported that Bennett died several weeks ago.
USA Today reported that coroner records show Bennett died in England on 29 May. An inquest into the circumstances of her death is scheduled for October.
The English pop singer was known for her vocal feature on one of the biggest-selling songs of the 21st century, LMFAO’s 2011 monster hit Party Rock Anthem.
