Lauren Sanderson Taps Fred Durst for ‘Come Say Sum’ Remix, Has Her ‘Lez Bizkit Dreams’ Come to Life

When Lauren Sanderson dropped “Come Say Sum” in March, the bruising rap-rock single directly recalled the coiled rage of Limp Bizkit’s 1999 opus “Break Stuff.” Now, the rising alternative star has tapped Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst to turn influence into art, with a remix of “Come Say Sum” released on Wednesday (May 6).

“Did I know this song had magic in it? Yes,” Sanderson said in a statement. “Did I think Fred Durst would discover it and bring my Lez Bizkit dreams to life? Probably not.”

The music video for the remix finds Sanderson and Durst turning a diner into a den of pure chaos. Based on the clip, it’s very clear that the two artists are kindred spirits, and Sanderson confirms that working with the Bizkit leader was a dream come true.

“‘Come Say Sum’ was already about talking your s–t and owning your truth,” said Sanderson. “Ever since the first conversation Fred and I had, I knew this friendship was created by the universe. Some people just have that magic, and when you put Fred and I together … We are what you call a serendipitous collision.”

The original “Come Say Sum” — which has 681,000 official on-demand U.S. streams through April 30, according to Luminate — previews LAUREN, the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album, due out May 29 on Pack Records. The project also includes previously released singles “Spell It Out,” “Trampoline” and “Smoking Section.”

Sanderson will open for Limp Bizkit for a handful of dates this fall, joining the nu-metal heroes at The Truth in Nashville on Oct. 11-12. Earlier this week, she was also announced as a performer at this year’s ACL Fest.
