Lewis Capaldi releases vulnerable new single ‘The Day That I Die’

Lewis Capaldi has released a cathartic new single, ‘The Day That I Die’, from his new EP, ‘Survive’.

The emotional song from Capaldi is his fourth since his comeback, following on from ‘Survive’, ‘Something In The Heavens’ and ‘Almost‘.

All the tracks have been described in a statement as his “most raw and personal songs to date”, and together make up his new EP ‘Survive’, which is out today (November 14).

Over a stripped-back, melancholic piano, Capaldi sings: “On the day that I leave, I hope the memories find you happy/ And my dad ain’t too mad at me, to say the least/ Pray my sister gets to sleep/ I wish I could have said it better, what all those times we had together meant to me.”

Check it out below.

Capaldi recently wrapped his 2025 UK live shows, which marked his first tour dates in two years.

His latest single arrives after he made his long-awaited comeback in June, when he released the ‘Survive’ single and went on to play a surprise set at the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

That song became his sixth UK Number One track, and the fastest selling single of 2025 so far – surpassing both Sabrina Carpenter and Lady Gaga.

The latest run of live shows come after the singer was forced to cut his set at Glastonbury 2023 short after struggling with tics caused by Tourette’s. He later announced he was planning to take some time off to focus on his health.

Since coming back from his hiatus, he has teamed up with BetterHelp to provide 734,000 hours of free online therapy. Announcing the collaboration, he shared: “Therapy is the reason why I am able to be a musician again”. He would also play some warm up shows in May in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Capaldi recently announced a new UK and Ireland tour for 2026, which included a headline slot at next year’s BST Hyde Park. Visit here for tickets and check out all the dates below.

Lewis Capaldi’s new 2026 UK and Ireland tour dates are:

JUNE
24 – Dublin, Marlay Park
26 – Limerick, Thomond Park
28 – Exeter, TK Maxx Presents Live at Powderham
30 – Cardiff, Blackweir Fields

JULY

11 – London, American Express presents BST Hyde Park

AUGUST

22 – Manchester, Wythenshawe Park

In other Capaldi news, the Scottish singer covered Paramore‘s classic track ‘Still Into You’ during a session for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month back in October.
