Liam Gallagher has once again dashed hopes for new Oasis music.
The outspoken Britpop legend is adamant he wouldn’t be able to take any “criticism” if the band put out another record and it didn’t match up to the success of their era-defining back catalogue.
Responding to a fan who begged for a new record, he replied on X: “NO I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour cure bad breath and constipation for the nation if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other s*** let’s just to some gigs and be happy thank you (sic)”
Previously replying to a fan who suggested the Wonderwall band could tour forever without releasing another album, Liam argued that expectations would be impossible to meet.
He said the pressure to match their hits would “be too much,” joking that the band would “split up again” if they attempted a new record.
Oasis’ final studio album was 2008’s Dig Out Your Soul. A year later, the band met its demise following a backstage bust-up between Liam and his brother Noel Gallagher.
The siblings finally put their feud to bed last year and delighted fans by reuniting for the Oasis Live ’25 tour.
Although they aren’t planning a new album, Oasis are said to be gearing up to announce a huge string of shows for next year, including a residency in their home city of Manchester.
At the heart of the tour will be several dates at the Etihad Stadium, home of brothers and bandmates Noel and Liam Gallagher’s beloved Manchester City, and they will also return to Knebworth – the site of their two huge concerts in 1996 – for a record-breaking six shows.
Liam – who previously played two solo shows at Knebworth back in 2022 – has repeatedly hinted live shows are on the way for 2027.
When one fan mused on X, “i wonder if the poznan during cigarettes and alcohol will carry on in 2027 or if there’ll be a new gig thing we’ll be doing (sic)”, Liam replied: “Oh it will.”
However, he refused to be drawn on any specifics.
Asked about reports of gigs at Ireland’s Slane Castle, he simply replied: “Good question.”
And asked about various Scottish venues, he remained equally cryptic, telling one fan: “Stop trying to cause theatre.”
The Champagne Supernova singer told another user they would be playing at the Etihad Stadium for “a whole year.”
He also teased the band would return to Rome, Italy in 2027.
