Liam Gallagher says his “see you next year” comments “raised a few eyebrows” and Oasis “need to sit down and discuss” plans

Liam Gallagher has said his “see you next year” comments “raised a few eyebrows” before adding that Oasis “need to sit down and discuss” plans.

The Britpop icons kicked off their mammoth ‘Live ‘25’ tour dates earlier this summer with a number of sold-out stadium slots across the UK before heading abroad. Now, as the band embark on the final few gigs in South America, Gallagher has addressed rumours that more dates could be on the way in 2026.

Gallagher had previously implied that more live dates could be on the way after being asked if he was feeling “sad that the tour is ending soon” by a fan. The singer shared a subtle response on Twitter/X that suggested the band won’t be slowing down just yet. “I’m not actually as I know things you don’t know,” he wrote, before telling fans confused by the response to “google it”.

For those who did take to Google, the first results that pop up are speculation that the band could be touring again in 2026, and rumours that they will be heading back to Knebworth next summer – marking 30 years since they first played their legendary shows there, which sold out in under 24 hours.

Prior to this, Gallagher added more fuel to rumours that there could be more Oasis gigs on the way, including at the band’s final shows at Wembley in September, when he told fans “See you next year”, before jokingly slapping himself on the wrist for letting it slip.

Now, in some new tweets/X posts responding to fans, Gallagher said that this comment led to “a few tuts and raised eyebrows,” when a fan asked him directly about it on the social media platform.

In response to another fan, he added: “You will see me next year and the year after and so on just not sure yet if it’ll be with Oasis we need to sit down and discuss these things if it was all up to me then you know we’d be touring till the day we die as it’s the best thing in the world but UNFORTUNATELY it’s not.”

The rumours of more Oasis gig dates were further fuelled earlier this month when Gallagher also told Australian fans he would “see them again” after they played two nights at Sydney’s Accord Stadium.

Oasis have almost finished touring for the year with a few South American dates remaining, but rumours of more shows look set to continue – particularly that the band could play Knebworth or the Etihad Stadium next year, with the 30th anniversaries of their huge Knebworth and Maine Road both falling in 2026.

In addition to this, a British peer in the House of Lords seemed to accidentally reveal that Oasis would play Knebworth next summer last month before backtracking. On October 22, Lady Taylor of Stevenage claimed that the band would play five back-to-back anniversary gigs at Knebworth House next year.

She then told The Guardian, “I was speaking hypothetically following speculation that they would play Knebworth again as they did in August 1996. I understand the band have not confirmed this.”

The band play Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago, Chile today (November 19), before two gigs at MorumBIS in São Paulo on November 22 and 23 to round off the year.

Bonehead will be rejoining them after the guitarist, real name Paul Arthurs, took a break from the tour to continue his cancer treatment. He was given the all-clear from tonsil cancer back in 2022, but shared at the start of October that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year, and would sit out of Oasis’ Asia and Australia shows so he could have “the next phase of care”.

During those shows, the band performed with an honorary cut-out of Bonehead. In his absence, Mike Moore from Liam’s solo band filled in.
