Speaking on air about working directly with Payne as their mentor, Rittmann expressed deep gratitude for the time they shared together. He described the late singer as a beautiful person whose guidance continues to motivate and unite the group as they push forward in their musical journey.
Expanding on the specific lessons passed down during their mentorship, Jenifer recalled how Payne urged the young musicians to safeguard their bond against external pressures. Payne specifically reflected on his global success with One Direction, sharing that his years alongside his bandmates were the best time he ever had in his life. He cautioned the rising pop group not to let outside noise or interpersonal friction tear them apart, reminding them that while each member could pursue successful solo ventures, they would never experience more fun than when performing together.
Jenifer noted that Payne encouraged open communication above all else, advising them to talk through every challenge rather than letting small issues derail their collective mission. Those small pieces of advice, the band explained, remain the core reason Soulidified continues to stand strong as a cohesive unit focused on sharing their music worldwide.
Relaying another poignant moment from their time together, the band shared that Payne comforted them after a competition loss by reminding them of his own group’s origins. Shortly after the show concluded, Payne approached them to point out that One Direction did not win their season of The X Factor either, yet they still managed to achieve global triumph.
