Lil Baby has been arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
On Tuesday, editors at TMZ reported that the Atlanta-born rapper – real name Dominique Jones – had been arrested at a club on Monday night after he was “seen on video being passed a gun”. He was taken into custody at the Clark County Detention Center.
Following the news, Lil Baby’s lawyers issued a statement in which they insisted he held a valid permit for carrying a concealed weapon (CCW) in his native state of Georgia.
“To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia carrying a concealed weapon (CCW) permit,” Drew Findling and David Chesnoff told the outlet. “On his behalf we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”
Lil Baby, 29, hasn’t been formally charged with a crime and has been released from custody.
According to The Associated Press, he is due to appear in a Las Vegas court on 1 October.
Lil Baby rose to prominence following the release of his 2018 debut album Harder Than Ever, which featured the single Yes Indeed.
