Lindsey Buckingham’s alleged stalker ruled unfit to stand trial

Lindsey Buckingham’s alleged stalker ruled unfit to stand trial

The woman charged with stalking Lindsey Buckingham has been found incompetent to stand trial.

Michelle Dick, wearing a jail uniform and waist restraints, appeared at the court hearing on Thursday after being accused of attacking and stalking the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist.

Los Angeles County Mental Health Court Judge Robert S. Harrison made the ruling following a report from a court-appointed doctor, who had examined Dick while she was in custody.

“At this time, the court finds that you are not able to handle your case. You are not trial-competent,” the judge told Dick during the morning hearing.

In addition, Judge Harrison stated it was “medically appropriate to treat the defendant’s psychiatric condition with medication.”

The next court hearing has been scheduled for 27 August.

It is expected the court will consider if attempting to restore Dick to competency is in the interest of justice, or if she qualifies for a mental-health diversion programme. If she successfully completes the programme, this could lead to a dismissal of the charges, reports Rolling Stone.

A felony complaint was filed on 6 April and alleged Dick stalked Buckingham between October 2021 and March 2026.

The charges include making criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon involving a motor vehicle, and vandalising Buckingham’s car.

Dick was arrested in Indiana in April after allegedly confronting the musician in Santa Monica the previous month, violating a restraining order taken out against her in 2024.

In May, Dick – who has claimed Buckingham is her father – pleaded not guilty to all seven charges.
