Listen to CMAT’s “love song for Jamie Oliver”, ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’

CMAT has released a brand new “love song for Jamie Oliver”, ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’.

In the run-up to her latest album ‘Euro-Country’ – set for release on August 29 – the Irish singer-songwriter has shared a brand new track from the record.

‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’ is CMAT’s third single from ‘Euro-Country’, following on from the viral ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’ and ‘Running/Planning’. It features a more upbeat indie-rock angle than her past singles, with CMAT warning to herself: “OK, don’t be a bitch / The man’s got kids / And they wouldn’t like this…”

Speaking about the song, CMAT said: “The whole point of the song is actually my annoyance and intolerance and hatred of other people serves absolutely no purpose in my life and is a really bad instinct that I have. So it’s actually a love song for Jamie Oliver, if you think about it. It’s me being like ‘don’t be a bitch and stop judging people for annoyances’.”

CMAT’s ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’ has been a huge hit across festivals thanks to its ‘woke Macarena’ dance. Lola Young, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Julia Fox, Cher Lloyd and many more have all participated in the trend.

Previously speaking about the album in a press release, CMAT called ‘Euro-Country’ “the best thing I have ever made”.

“I felt halfway through recording it was the most important record I’ve made for myself… mainly because it was making me go crazy,” she shared. “I’m always going to make the work I want to make, because there is a little gremlin in my head that tells me if it’s shit.

“More than success, there’s a bigger gremlin that wants me to make music that’s really good. She’s brutal and has ruined my life at times, but she is the keeper of my life and she’s always right.”

We spoke to CMAT at the Ivor Novellos last year, where she hinted that her new album would be the “weirdest music of my life so far”.

She added that the new direction of her music would be “country”, continuing: “I think I’ve started doubling down on a couple of things that are very specific to me. Now I’m two albums in, instead of trying to make the best and most amazing music in the world, I’m trying to just actually really closely define what it is that only I specifically can do.”

The singer will soon appear at Glastonbury next weekend, along with a UK and European tour scheduled for later in 2025 kicking off in July. Find tickets to upcoming live shows here.
