Lola Young Praises Chappell Roan’s Trick for Private Conversations: ‘As You F–king Should, B—h’

Chappell Roan and Lola Young‘s conversation at Paris Fashion Week this spring will stay between them, and them alone.

That’s because the Midwest Princess took precautions to ensure that no one would be able to tell what they were saying to each other while sitting side by side at Vivienne Westwood’s fashion show, according to Young. “She did this thing where she covered her lips and mine to make sure no one was clocking what we were talking about,” the British pop singer told British Vogue in a cover story published Thursday (Oct. 15).

“And I was like, ‘Yeah, as you f–king should, b—h,’” Young added of Roan. “Don’t let them post us.”

As two of the biggest breakout stars over the last two years, both Island Records signees have had to grapple with public scrutiny and surveillance. Both have also been open about how that’s impacted them, with the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer making headlines in 2024 for calling out “predatory” fan behavior and establishing hard boundaries between herself and strangers.

Meanwhile, Young has dealt with addiction and mental health issues, which contributed to her stepping away from music to recover and come back stronger after collapsing on stage at All Things Go in 2025.

“A lot of things were going on for me personally,” Young, who recently announced her 2027 North American Tour, told the publication. “I was working but I also was self-sabotaging and that is not a good combination … Recovery isn’t linear. It’s a nonstop journey.”

She also gave an update on her love life following her wild revelation at Rosalia’s concert in London in May. “I’m seeing various people. I’m shagging,” she said, noting she refuses to use dating apps. “I don’t want to do swipe left, swipe right. I just want to meet you and then, if you’re s–t, you can go in the bin.”
