Ludacris’ performance at the Art Basel event in Miami was shut down by fire marshals.
The exclusive Nylon and Movado party, held at Real Housewives of Miami star Lenny Hochstein’s Star Island mansion, saw a heavy police presence due to new Art Week regulations requiring large-scale parties at private homes to follow strict occupancy limits and noise restrictions.
That didn’t kill the vibe at the over-the-top bash where Ludacris performed favourites such as Area Codes and What’s Your Fantasy during an energetic set.
But after 30 minutes of hits, a fire marshal took the stage to halt the show.
It is the rapper’s first time in Miami for Art Basel, at a party that was attended by fellow celebs such as Janelle Monae, DJ John Summit and Havana singer Camila Cabello.
Art Basel stages the world’s premier modern and contemporary art shows and fairs. The annual art events occur in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong.
“I just started collecting art,” Ludacris told Page Six.
“I wanted to focus on it after focusing on real estate. You have to buy all the houses first before you get the art for them.”
“I love all the creative energy that comes to the city. I don’t love the traffic, but I love all the creatives and all the art.”
