Luke Combs will continue to prioritise his family over attending A-list parties even if it costs him awards.

In an interview for GQ magazine published on Tuesday, the country music star insisted he remains unbothered by the idea of collecting awards and accolades.

“If that means I p**s off people by not hanging out with people I don’t even know, so other people think I’m cool, then who the f**k cares?” he told the outlet. “If that’s the reason I don’t win a Grammy or CMA Award, then f**king do I even want one?”

Luke and his wife Nicole, whom he wed in 2020, share three young sons.

The artist went on to note that he wrote the song Whoever You Turn Out to Be, which was included on his fifth studio album, Fathers & Sons, for his kids.

Accordingly, he hopes the lyrics resonate with other parents, particularly those raising queer children.

“I am a firm believer that you don’t get to choose,” the 36-year-old continued. “You don’t get to choose who you want to be with, and I can’t imagine feeling the pressure a child would experience coming to terms with those things on their own. And then having the pressure of not knowing if your parents would be O.K. with that, or disown them?”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Luke also weighed in on the topic of politics and explained that he plans to take a neutral stance going forward, much like Dolly Parton.

“That’s the space that I would like to operate in, you know what I mean? Basically, just being a good person and doing what you believe is right, and not getting involved in the minutiae of labelling it,” he added. “It does take some massaging to do it all in a way that doesn’t come off as, like, deceitful or trite. It’s a delicate balance, but she has done a masterful job of it.”

Luke is set to release his new album, The Way I Am, on Friday.
