Maná Will Fire Up Mexico vs. England Match With Halftime Show: ‘Get Ready to Sing at the Top of Your Lungs’

Maná will return to the Estadio Ciudad de México (formerly Estadio Azteca) on Sunday (July 5) to bid farewell to the iconic venue as a World Cup host with a halftime show during the historic match, where Mexico and England will face off for a spot in the quarterfinals of the world’s most celebrated sporting event.

The band confirmed the news on Friday night (July 3) on social media. “See you Sunday at halftime. Get ready to sing at the top of your lungs. Let it be heard all the way to England,” wrote the iconic Mexican band in their post.

Maná will close their historic run at the FIFA World Cup 2026 with this performance. Earlier, the quartet — comprising lead singer Fher Olvera, guitarist Sergio Vallín, bassist Juan Calleros and drummer Álex González — participated in the tournament’s opening ceremony on June 11 at the Estadio Ciudad de México. They shared the stage with other international stars such as Shakira with Burna Boy, J Balvin and Lila Downs, captivating an estimated global audience of 1.1 billion viewers.

The announcement of the halftime show by the “Oye Mi Amor” hitmakers comes two days after Olvera responded to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher’s prediction that England would crush Mexico 5-0. In a video, Olvera, draped in the Mexican flag, retorted, “5-0? Calm down! We’ll see what happens on Sunday, man.”

In addition to their World Cup performances, Maná also held a significant free concert on June 17 at the Glorieta de la Minerva monument in their hometown of Guadalajara, drawing approximately 170,000 attendees, according to the Jalisco state government. The show was part of the World Cup Fan Fest activities organized in Guadalajara, one of the tournament’s host cities.

This latest milestone coincides with Maná’s four decades career celebration through the expansion of their Vivir Sin Aire Tour, which will include stops at stadiums in Bogota, Lima, Santiago and Buenos Aires before concluding with two shows at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on Dec. 16-17.

With over 50 million records sold, four Grammy Awards, nine Latin Grammy Awards and a career that has taken their music to more than 30 countries, Maná remains one of the most relevant Latin acts of all time. Earlier this year, Billboard ranked the quartet at No. 9 on its list of The 50 Best Latin Rock Bands of All Time.
