Marie Osmond pays emotional tribute to late brother Alan

Marie Osmond has honoured her late brother Alan Osmond with a heartfelt social media tribute.

The There’s No Stopping Your Heart singer, the only daughter in the Osmond family, took to Instagram on Tuesday to address the passing of Alan, who died on Monday after a four-decade battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). He was 76.

“The years and years of memories I have of my big brother Alan could never be written in a few words – it would take volumes – but I shall try,” she began. “As his only sister, I know I had a different relationship with him than he had with his brothers, and I must say I loved that! (smiling emoji) He was always very protective of me (not so sure I love that one) but he was always there if I needed him!”

Marie, 66, went on to list Alan’s “many incredible talents” and achievements and reflected on “the immense responsibility” Alan faced as the eldest of the performing Osmond brothers, starting his career at the age of 12 in a barbershop quartet with Wayne, Merrill and Jay.

“Alan became our leader at age 12. How daunting that must have felt to have that immense responsibility, to lead at such a young age. But he never complained,” she praised. “He told me many times, ‘It felt like a mission… a long one, but I loved doing it’. And he did it for us and for all of you!”

Alongside throwback photos of Alan and the seven performing Osmonds, Marie insisted that she knew Alan was “happy” being reunited with their late mother “on the other side”. She also shared her sibling’s final words, adding, “I can’t wait to see brother Wayne,” who died in January 2025 at the age of 73.

“I love you so very much and will miss you dearly,” she concluded her post, along with a heartbroken emoji.

Elsewhere, her brother Donny Osmond shared a throwback photo of Alan holding him when he was a baby and described him as his “protector” and “guide”.

“Alan was our leader in every sense of the word. His tireless work helped build everything we became. I will always be grateful for the sacrifices he made and the love he showed – not just to me, but to every member of our family,” the 68-year-old wrote on Instagram. “I owe him more than I can ever fully express. I love you, Alan. Thank you for always being there for me.”
