Mary In The Junkyard announce 2026 UK, European and North American tour, share “calisthenic” single ‘New Muscles’

Mary In The Junkyard have announced UK, European and North American tour dates for 2026, and shared a new single called ‘New Muscles’. Find all the details and listen below.

The track is the third preview of the London band and former NME Cover stars‘ debut studio album, ‘Role Model Hermit’, which is released on July 3 via AMF Records. It follows on from the recent songs ‘Crash Landing’ and ‘Candelabra’.

“‘New Muscles’ – the most calisthenic release to date – is out today and ready to stream everywhere, accompanied by the strongest and most nutrient-dense video the world has ever seen,” the group wrote.

They went on to describe the infectious, melodic cut as “blood, sweat and tears embodied and immortalised in sound – based on a true story of David [Addison, drummer] falling in love with the gym”.

Mary In The Junkyard have already been playing the single live at recent shows, and it became a fan favourite when they supported Wet Leg on their 2025 US tour.

The track showcases a lighter, more playful side of the trio’s sound, with the members explaining that ‘New Muscles’ “was originally composed on the accordion”.

It is accompanied by an official music video, shot in south-east London. For the visuals, bassist Saya Barbaglia and vocalist/guitarist Clari Freeman-Taylor learned the Muay Thai martial art.

“The fight in the video is real, and we trained for it for a combined year (Saya one year, Clari one month),” they said.

Every extra and member of the crew is also a part of the band’s wider creative circle, with Mary In The Junkyard maintaining a connection to their DIY roots. Check out the video above.

The band have confirmed a lengthy run of headline gigs, too. These are scheduled to take place in the UK, Europe and North America later this year.

Their UK and Ireland leg kicks off this autumn, featuring a stop at London’s Heaven on September 30. Other dates are lined up in Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Hitchin.

A brief run of European shows is set to follow in early October, with concerts in Paris, Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

In November, Mary In The Junkyard will embark on a tour of the US and Canada. Dates on this portion of the trek include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, New York and Philadelphia.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time this Friday (May 22). You’ll be able to buy yours here (UK and Ireland), here (North America) and here (Europe). Alternatively, fans can access a pre-sale at the same time tomorrow (Wednesday May 20) by pre-ordering ‘Role Model Hermit’ here.

To mark the release of ‘Role Model Hermit’, the band will be playing a series of live in-store record shop gigs across the UK this July. They’ll also open for Dove Ellis at shows in LA and New York later this month.

Speaking to NME for The Cover in 2024, Freeman-Taylor said a run of festival dates around that time had given the band a deeper understanding of what it took to nurture the “very different type of friendship” they share.

“I feel like we really have each other’s backs,” she explained. “We have learned what it’s like to spend stressful days together, and be completely silent when we need to.”

In a four-star review of their 2024 debut EP ‘This Old House’, NME praised the trio’s “bewitching art-pop” that “soars above the hype”. It added: “Let their music pour out of your speakers and into your life. Get out and experience the flesh, blood, guts and grit of this band in all of their glory and promise.”
