Mary J. Blige Makes Hometown NYC Show Her First-Ever Concert Film

For My Fans, Live From Madison Square Garden, filmed earlier this year at a sold-out World’s Greatest Arena, to be released in theaters this November

Mary J. Blige will take her recent triumphant hometown New York City show to the big screen with her upcoming concert film For My Fans, Live From Madison Square Garden.

The singer’s first-ever concert movie was filmed in April during her sold-out gig at the World’s Most Famous Arena. The film is set for release in theaters for two nights only, Nov. 5 and 8.

“Being able to share this moment globally with my fans, who can experience this together in a movie theater, is more special than I can put into words,” Blige said in a statement (via The Associated Press). “This tour was always for my fans, and being able to make this into a movie for them means the world.”

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul’s MSG concert featured hits like “Family Affair” and “No More Drama” as well as tracks from her latest album, Gratitude. In addition to the performances, the concert film will also feature behind-the-scenes footage as well as special guest appearances; Jadakiss, Fabolous, Ne-Yo, and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie were among the rappers who performed alongside Blige at the Garden show.

“Mary J. Blige has always represented the heart and soul of New York, and her Madison Square Garden performance reflects that,” Kymberli Frueh of Trafalgar Releasing, which will distribute For My Fans, Live From Madison Square Garden, said in a statement. “We’re proud to share this historic hometown concert with audiences around the world through the magic of cinema.”

The singer’s For My Fans Tour followed Blige’s 2024 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “It is imperative that I say this now to all the artists who are my peers, and the artists just coming up. The miracle is in the movement. Faith without work is dead,” Blige said in her emotional induction speech. “Keep believing and keep moving, so that God can get the highest glory through your testimony, so that you can help somebody. It’s not enough to just be beautiful and talented. It’s not enough.”
