Matt Bellamy has filed for divorce from his wife, model Elle Evans.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Muse frontman asked the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday to end the marriage after seven years.
Bellamy has also asked the court for sole legal and physical custody of the former couple’s two children, a six-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son.
Evans told the outlet that she plans to fight for custody, and noted that her ex-spouse made the marriage “unbearable”.
Bellamy and Evans began dating in early 2015 after meeting on the set of his band’s Mercy music video. They got engaged during a romantic holiday in Fiji in December 2017 and tied the knot in Malibu, California, in August 2019.
They announced their separation mid-last year, with Bellamy cryptically sharing at the time that the breakup was due to “really unexpected circumstances”.
In his divorce filing, Bellamy cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Bellamy was previously engaged to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star Kate Hudson, with whom he shares son Bingham Hawn Bellamy, born in July 2011. The pair split in 2014, citing “different life visions”. They have since maintained a friendship and successful co-parenting relationship.
