Meghan Trainor has shared her experience undergoing botox surgery, revealing that she “cannot smile anymore”.
In a clip from Trainor’s podcast Workin’ On It, shared on Wednesday, Trainor shared a cautionary tale to listeners who may be thinking about opting for cosmetic surgery.
“To all my fellow girlies out there who are in your 30s out there, hi. I got too much Botox, and I need help,” she said on the podcast. “I messed up.”
She added that she’s sought out Botox “a handful of times” over the years “just on my forehead”.
“Someone convinced me with my little lips that – if you did a lip flip [and] you put filler right above your upper lip – you could have a beautiful flip on your upper lip and I could have one for the first time in my whole 30 years of living,” Trainor explained. “It was not true.”
The result of the lip filler botox? “I cannot smile anymore,” she revealed. “Everywhere I go, I cannot smile. My face hurts to smile.”
In the rest of the episode, however, Trainor reveals that she is not ruling out future cosmetic surgery procedures. “You know what this [taught] me? It taught me that my smile does light up a room. And when it’s not there, it’s a dim light,” she says, in jest, mustering a half-smile to the camera.
Earlier this year, Trainor released her sixth studio album ‘Timeless’, which featured guest appearances from T-Pain, pop-soul group Lawrence, and actress Niecy Nash.
Notably, its deluxe edition featured the track ‘Criminals’, which was used for a flashmob-style dance sequence in recent Netflix series The Perfect Couple – it stars Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber.
At a press conference for the show, it was revealed Kidman created a WhatsApp group with her co-stars to try and get out of filming the sequence.
Schreiber, however, was not part of the supposed “mutiny”: “I was already in my trailer practising the dance moves. I just like dancing and I was kinda disappointed when it came out that I’m not in it more because I thought I did it really well.”
