Metallica recently announced their giant Las Vegas Sphere residency last February, initially confirming a run of eight dates between October 1 and October 31.
After adding six more shows due to phenomenal demand, the band extended their dates into March 2027.
Speaking about the residency, Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich said: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’
“This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next-level!”
Before heading to Las Vegas, Metallica will also embark on a UK and European tour later this year. This includes two nights at the London Stadium in July, following dates in Dublin, Glasgow and Cardiff. Find any remaining tickets here (UK and Ireland).
Metallica will also be headed to Conneticut for a special two-night stint at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, to mark the venue’s 25th anniversary. Taking place in November this year, Suicidal Tendencies will open for the band on the first night and Spiritbox supporting on the second.
The two dates will form one of the band’s ‘No Repeat Weekends’, in which no songs are played at both dates.
Elsewhere, Kirk Hammett has revealed he had 767 new riffs for Metallica’s “next album”. Their 11th and latest full-length effort, ’72 Seasons’, arrived in 2023.
