Michael Bublé has revealed he is working on a country music album.
In an interview for the Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast on Thursday, the singer-songwriter surprised fans by announcing his next project.
“I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about this. I love country music, and I have loved country music my whole life. I went to Nashville, I have a producer named Dann Huff… and I have made a love letter to country music,” he shared. “It’s old-school, it’s not like, modern, it’s my interpretation. I have never had an experience that has been better musically. I am so excited to put out this record – I don’t know if 10 people are gonna love it, but I don’t care.”
Michael went on to note that he has been inspired by his fellow coaches on The Voice, including Kelsea Ballerini, Blake Shelton, and Reba McEntire, to create the album.
“I feel like I’ve earned the right to make a beautiful record,” the 50-year-old continued.
But when pressed by host Kylie as to the project’s release date, Michael admitted it won’t be available for some time.
“I just know that it’s so good,” he smiled. “It’s not even ready, I haven’t even finished it. But I’m telling you, this one is so special for me. It is so beautiful.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, Michael reflected on his love of Christmas music.
The Canadian crooner’s seventh studio album, Christmas, remains one of the best-selling festive albums worldwide.
“I’m Michael Bublé, and I’m not gonna lie. We should start listening to Christmas music in June. It would be great for my streaming revenue,” the father-of-four joked, before naming I’ll Be Home for Christmas, famously recorded by Bing Crosby in 1943, as his favourite track. “What a beautiful, beautiful song. I think it’s one of the most well-crafted songs ever. It’s so beautiful.”
