Miley Cyrus has been immortalised in the form of a Barbie doll.
The Flowers hitmaker has become the latest celebrity to get a new collector doll as part of Mattel’s Barbie Signature Series.
According to the toy brand, the doll celebrates the cultural footprint she has made as a musician, actress, and advocate for self-expression, paying homage to her record-breaking achievements across pop culture and entertainment.
Inspired by Miley’s custom Alaïa look in her Golden Burning Sun music video, the Barbie wears a faux-leather two-piece pant set, a hooded jacket and pointed-toe black pumps and holds a microphone.
In a statement, the 33-year-old explained that she spent “so much time digging into the details” with the toymakers to ensure that the Barbie captured her “creativity and the way that I represent myself”.
“Seeing my Barbie for the first time is a dream come true,” she said. “We did not miss any marks when it came down to the design of my doll from the look, the hair, the accessories, the makeup, and the structure. Every detail was purposeful, and we spent a lot of time perfecting her – not to be perfect, because that wouldn’t be representative of me, but to really get down to the details of this Golden Burning Sun look.”
In an Instagram video, Miley shared that it marked a “full circle moment” because she braided her Barbie’s hair and changed her outfits as a child.
“She’s something I’ll never outgrow as she evolves with me,” she captioned the video. “As an adult, I treasure my collection I never take out of the box. Holding my Barbie in my hands is a true full circle moment.”
The former Hannah Montana star follows in the footsteps of musicians including Kylie Minogue, Stevie Nicks, David Bowie, Elvis Presley and Elton John, who have previously been honoured in the Barbie Signature Series.
The Barbie Signature Miley Cyrus Collectible Doll is on sale now, priced at $92.77 (£69.99).
