Miley Cyrus reflects on ‘rebuilding’ life with Maxx Morando after Liam Hemsworth divorce

Miley Cyrus has spoken candidly about rebuilding her life with fiancé Maxx Morando following her divorce from Liam Hemsworth.

The Flowers hitmaker reflected on the end of her marriage to The Hunger Games star while discussing her engagement to fellow musician Maxx.

In a clip from a recent panel event shared online on Wednesday, Miley compared her personal journey to themes in the forthcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash, which features her new song Dream As One.

“I think it’s very timely and very aligned with Avatar’s theme because it is about starting over and building again,” the 33-year-old said of the track.

Miley went on to explain that she “rebuilt” her life after losing the Malibu home she shared with Liam in the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

“After I lost my house in the fires, that wasn’t all that I lost, and I really went down to kind of the ashes and rebuilt my life personally, physically – you know, my home,” she shared. “So the themes of love here and relationships and being there for each other.”

The Wrecking Ball singer added that she only recognised the parallels between her story and the film when she attended its premiere earlier this week.

“I didn’t even think about it really until I was at the premiere last night watching the film and going, ‘This is kind of art imitating life and life imitating art.’ You never know which one comes first,” she stated. “The relationships, the love there, the starting again, the rebuilding and somewhat of being a phoenix that really resonates with me and really is what this relationship for me is all about.”

The star continued, “It’s about starting again and rebuilding from… the consciousness of a more grown adult person of what I want this time around is totally different from maybe what I wanted when I was younger.”

Miley and Liam, 35, got married in December 2018 after more than a decade of dating, but announced their separation less than a year later.

She and Maxx, 27, were first romantically linked in late 2021. They confirmed their engagement on Tuesday.
