The visual, tied to her ninth album, will play one night only on June 12 in North America, and internationally on June 27
Miley Cyrus’ Something Beautiful album will be paired with an extended visual that’s coming to big screens all over the world. The Something Beautiful short film will have North American screenings on June 12 and go international on June 27.
The June 12 screening is for one night only, and the international showings will follow the film’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Tickets for the screenings go on sale May 22.
The film, which Cyrus has described as a “pop opera fueled by fantasy,” incorporates all 13 songs on the upcoming album that drops on May 30. Engineer Alan Meyerson (Dune Part One, The Dark Knight) was tabbed to mix the music specifically for theater speakers. Cyrus is directing the film alongside Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. She’s also producing the film with XYZ Films and Panos Cosmatos in collaboration with Sony Music Vision, Columbia Records, and Live Nation.
Cyrus has expressed excitement about the conception and release of the visual. “Something Beautiful is my dream project come true—fashion, film, and original music coexisting in harmony,” she said.
Last week, Cyrus released “More to Lose,” a heartrending single from the project. In a video posted to her Instagram, she said, “On a song like ‘More to Lose,’ I try to keep it a singular take. I add my harmonies, ad-libs at the end, but it’s really a song that’s more of a story, and I never want that to be interrupted or overthought or chasing perfection.”
