Mollie King has revealed she’s been absent from her radio show after collapsing at home and hitting her head.
The former Saturdays star has been missing from her Radio 1 weekday afternoon slot for two weeks.
With her absence sparking concern among listeners, King took to social media on Monday to shed light on the situation and revealed she was “rushed” to hospital in the middle of the night.
“So many of you have kindly messaged me over the past two weeks asking why I haven’t been on air,” Mollie posted on Instagram.
“After coming home late from work, I suddenly collapsed unconscious on the bathroom floor at 4am, hitting my head and face as I fell. It was a huge shock and I ended up being rushed to A&E,” she continued.
Mollie went on to thank her fiancé, former England cricket star Stuart Broad, for coming to her rescue after he found her unconscious at home.
She also praised the staff at St George’s Hospital in London for looking after her while she received medical treatment for her facial injuries.
“A huge thank you to Amy and Hannah at St George’s Hospital who were absolutely incredible, stitching me up so well,” Mollie added.
As she continued to recall the events surrounding her collapse, the singer admitted it had served as a wake-up call to make some changes to her busy schedule.
Mollie, who has two daughters – three-year-old Annabella and 17-month-old Liliana – with Stuart, explained she has been forced to take a break and recover.
“Yesterday was my first day doing anything social. After what has felt like a very long two weeks, it was amazing to get out and spend time with my girls,” she shared.
“Thank you so much to everyone who has checked in on me, and for all the lovely birthday messages too. Your kindness has meant so much.”
Mollie, who turned 39 last week, returned to her radio show alongside Matt Edmondson on Monday.
