Morgan Wallen was the big winner at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards on Thursday night.
The country music star took home four awards at the fan-voted event, including the prize for The Song of 2024 for his feature on Post Malone’s I Had Some Help.
Wallen also won The People’s Artist, The Concert Tour for his long-running One Night at a Time trek, and the Social Country Star of 2024. However, the 31-year-old wasn’t in attendance at the spectacle due to prior commitments.
Luke Combs landed three awards, including The Album of 2024 for Fathers & Son and the Male Artist of 2024.
He also nabbed The Male Song of 2024 for Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma, which he co-wrote with Jessi Alexander and Jonathan Singleton for Twisters: The Album.
Elsewhere, Shaboozy won The New Artist of 2024 and The New Artist Song of 2024 for his popular track A Bar Song (Tipsy).
“First off, thank you to People’s Choice, the fans and listeners for this award,” he praised in his acceptance speech. “I’m so honoured and extremely humbled. I never would have thought in a million years that I’d be up here at the Grand Ole Opry accepting something like this, it’s a dream come true.”
And MGK, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, won The Cover Song of 2024 for Sun to Me, which Bryan originally released in 2022, and The Crossover Song of 2024 for Lonely Road featuring Jelly Roll.
In his acceptance speech, MGK thanked the country music industry for “letting us into your house” and gave Jelly Roll a shout-out, even though the singer-rapper wasn’t in the audience.
“We went from 10 years ago hating each other to elevating each other,” he smiled. “Comparison is the thief of joy. There is enough room on this couch for everybody. We found camaraderie in the chaos.”
Meanwhile, Lainey Wilson landed The Female Artist for the second year in a row and newcomer Dasha was presented with The Female Song of 2024 for hit song Austin (Boots Stop Workin’).
However, Beyoncé missed out on any prizes for her latest album Cowboy Carter, as did Kelsea Ballerini, who had been nominated for her record Patterns.
Shania Twain served as host of the show, which was staged at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.
Amid the ceremony, Miranda Lambert was honoured with the Icon Award, while Kane Brown received the Country Champion prize.
