Mötley Crüe‘s Tommy Lee isn’t a fan of regular showers, his wife has revealed.

The drummer’s wife Brittany Furlan shared the information on a recent episode of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Off the Vine podcast. Speaking on her husband’s hygiene habits, Furlan said: “My husband’s very neat, which people wouldn’t expect from someone who’s a musician. They would expect him to be a fucking nightmare, right? Like dirty… I mean, he doesn’t shower a lot, but he’s very neat. He doesn’t make a mess.”
Podcast host Kaitlyn Bristowe pressed Furlan on the comment, resulting in Furlan explaining: “He’s not big on the showers… I feel like that’s European, though, ’cause Europeans… My husband was born in Greece. He was born in Athens, and his mother was Miss Greece, like so beautiful. And he said growing up, his mom, like, that’s a thing in Europe. You don’t need to shower every day. They would just do the white washcloth if they felt like they were getting a little funky. But shower, my husband showers, like, once a week.”
Furlan then clarified that she showers “every night” and washes her hair once a week: “But that’s the thing with me, is I’m overly clean. And I’m stripping my body of all the oils and stuff it probably needs.”
She also shared that she isn’t opposed to her husband’s approach to hygiene and showering: “He’s so handsome. It’s really crazy. He’s a really good-looking guy. He doesn’t really give me the ick.”
Lee and Furlan – who is herself a comedian and used to be a viral Vine star – began dating publicly in September 2017 before getting engaged in February the following year. They got married on Valentine’s Day in 2019, marking his fourth marriage.
Tommy Lee’s approach to cleanliness isn’t the first time a Mötley Crüe member has been in the headlines for avoiding showers. In 2008, Jon Holmes shared as part of his Rock Star Babylon book, which chronicled wild stories featuring rockstars, that Lee and Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx once held a contest to see who could go the longest without showering or cleaning up and still being able to seduce groupies.
Per Holmes, according to Page Six, they were able to go “two months” without showering before a groupie finally threw up on Sixx during a sexual act.
In May, a judge provisionally dismissed a lawsuit against Tommy Lee, in which a woman alleged a sexual assault in a helicopter. The woman was given 20 days to file an amended complaint. The woman claimed in a suit last December that Lee assaulted her in 2003, having lured her to his personal helicopter “under false pretences”. Lee denied the allegations.
