Muse announce intimate, surprise Brixton Academy show to launch new album ‘The WOW! Signal’

Muse have announced an intimate London show for next month. Find all the details below.

The Devon trio will take to the stage at the O2 Academy Brixton this Easter on Good Friday (April 3), following their return with new single ‘Be With You’ and details of 10th album ‘The WOW! Signal’ yesterday (Thursday March 19).

It’ll mark their first live performance of the year, and first date in the capital since their concert at The O2 in autumn 2023. The space rock group last played Brixton Academy in May 2001, playing a two-night residency just weeks before the release of their seminal second album ‘Origin Of Symmetry’.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am GMT next Friday (March 27) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. Alternatively, fans can access a pre-sale at the same time on Wednesday (March 25) by pre-ordering ‘The WOW! Signal’ from Muse’s official store.

‘Be With You’ is set to appear on ‘The WOW! Signal’, which is out on June 26 via Warner. The forthcoming record will follow on from 2022’s ‘Will Of The People’.

According to a press release, the project takes its title from one of the most compelling interstellar mysteries of the last century – “a powerful 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 originating from the constellation Sagittarius with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source”.

“The astronomer who discovered the anomaly famously circled the now-iconic sequence ‘6EQUJ5’ and wrote ‘WOW!’ on the printout beside it – giving the signal its name and cementing its place in scientific and pop-culture lore,” it adds.

The 10-track LP is said to explore “a mix of cosmic mystery, existential hope, and the exhilarating possibility of contact with something far greater than ourselves”. It’ll also contain the 2025 single ‘Unravelling’.

Other song titles on ‘The WOW! Signal’ include ‘Nightshift Superstar’, ‘Shimmering Scars’,  ‘The Sickness In You & I’ and ‘Space Debris’. Fans have since taken to social media to share their reactions to the comeback single.

‘Be With You’ was accompanied by a cinematic official music video starring Ella Balinska (Resident Evil, The Occupant), directed by Nico Paolillo (Deafheaven, Bad Omens). Fans have since been sharing their thoughts on the tune on social media.

Muse embarked on a European tour last year, including a headline slot at Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival, where the band stepped in to replace Kings Of Leon.

NME described the show as an “era-spanning, revolutionary space-tacular” with “Matt Bellamy and co easing into their new cycle with riffs and revolution”.
