Muse secures eighth number one uk album with The Wow Signal

Muse have officially landed their eighth number one album on the UK Official Albums Chart with their latest release, The Wow! Signal. The triumphant chart performance for their tenth studio album marks a major milestone for the British rock legends, placing them level with iconic music acts Oasis, The Killers, Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., and Westlife on the historic list of artists with the most UK number one albums.

It has also been a stellar week for American rock band The Pretty Reckless, whose new project Dear God has secured the number four spot. Frontwoman Taylor Momsen and her bandmates have achieved their highest-charting UK album to date with the release, marking their maiden Top 5 entry and their fourth Top 10 album overall. Meanwhile, pop superstar Katy Perry has crept back into the upper echelons of the chart, with The Ones That Got The Plays sneaking into the Top 10 for the first time to secure her sixth Top 10 album in total.

Further down the standings, metal titans Metallica have made a surprise return to the main album chart. For the first time since 1997, their seventh studio album Reload has re-entered the chart at number 27, driven by a surge in fan interest following the drop of a limited-edition box set packed with exclusive merchandise.

Live music events have also made a significant impact on this week’s chart movements. Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny has rebounded back into the main standings at number 28 with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. The resurgence follows his massive stadium shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend, which famously featured a surprise appearance from Blur and Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn. Additionally, vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims has climbed six places to re-enter the Top 40 at number 38 with I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy, capitalising on the immense momentum generated by the latest UK leg of his international tour.
