Muse set to secure eighth Number 1 album with The Wow! Signal

Devonshire rock titans Muse are leading the charge on the UK Official Albums Chart, comfortably on track to secure their eighth chart-topping record with their tenth studio project, The Wow! Signal.

The album is poised to join the band’s impressive legacy of consecutive UK number ones, which includes Absolution (2004), Black Holes and Revelations (2006), The Resistance (2009), The 2nd Law (2012), Drones (2015), Simulation Theory (2018), and Will Of The People (2022). A victory this week would elevate the trio into elite classic rock territory, drawing them level with iconic groups like Oasis, The Killers, and Led Zeppelin on the list of artists boasting the most Official UK Number 1 albums.

Further down the chart, New York rock outfit The Pretty Reckless are aiming for a career milestone. Their latest release, Dear God, is currently eyeing a debut at Number 4. Marking their first studio material in five years, the record looks set to surpass the peaks of 2010’s Light Me Up and 2021’s Death by Rock and Roll, both of which reached Number 6. The band is highly likely to lock in their first-ever Top 5 placement.

Special physical releases are also shaking up the standings this week. Metallica’s 1997 album Reload is eyeing a dramatic re-entry into the Top 40 at Number 7, fueled by a limited-edition deluxe box set. Similarly, Jamie T’s 2009 album Kings & Queens is rebounding toward Number 29 following a special zoetrope vinyl release. Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Beth Orton looks to secure her seventh Top 40 milestone with The Ground Above, currently sitting at Number 30.

Legacy albums are making a strong return to the standings as well. Teddy Swims’ I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy holds steady at Number 34, while Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS lands at Number 40 following the Puerto Rican superstar’s recent show-stopping live performances at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
