Nate Bargatze Returns to the Summit on August Comedy Boxscore Recap

Earlier today (Sept. 30), Billboard published the August Boxscore report, with Chris Brown winning his first monthly victory. But while the biggest stars of rock, hip-hop and more packed stadiums, comedians were road warrior-ing their way to sold-out theaters and arenas. Here, we’re looking at the five biggest comedy tours of August 2025.

Earlier this summer, Billboard launched its comedy hub with rundowns of the biggest touring comedians of the midyear Boxscore period (Oct. 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025) and of the months that followed. Sebastian Maniscalco, Matt Rife, and “Weird Al” Yankovic topped those lists, but another former chart-topper regains the leader position in August.

After the current North American leg of the Big Dumb Eyes World Tour began in mid-July, Nate Bargatze swung into full gear in August with 17 arena shows. Chief among them were three performances at Boston’s TD Garden, combining for $3.3 million and 41,900 tickets. That alone would have put him in contention for the month’s top five, but his stamina throughout August pushes him to the top.

He swaps places with Yankovic, who takes the runner-up spot for August despite bigger totals than when he led the July list. He strung together 23 shows in the 31-day period, approaching the $10 million mark. Both acts make the overall top 30 alongside The Weeknd, Linkin Park, and Lady Gaga.

Keep scrolling for a detailed breakdown of the top grossing touring comedy tours of August – by the numbers. This month’s round-up includes one comic who sports their first appearance on the monthly ranking.

Boxscore charts are based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. International grosses are converted to USD.
