NBA YoungBoy’s Chicago Arena Concert Canceled With No Explanation

YoungBoy Never Broke Again will no longer perform in Chicago tomorrow, Sept. 24, after the United Center decided to cancel his show with no firm explanation.

In a statement shared with Rolling Stone, a rep for the arena said only: “The United Center has made the decision to cancel the NBA YoungBoy show scheduled for Wednesday, September 24 in Chicago.  If you purchased through Ticketmaster, refunds will be issued automatically. If you purchased from a third-party reseller, please reach out to your point of purchase.” The rep added: “We are not able to provide further comment at this time.”

Prior to calling off the show, the United Center announced it was making changes to its bag policy for YoungBoy’s show. The stricter rules prohibited “bags of all sizes, including clear bags,” from being taken inside the venue.

NBA YoungBoy’s manager, Andrew Junnier, criticized the United Center on Instagram Stories, writing that the venue “bitched out.” He also placed the blame on one venue employee, saying, “He didn’t want us to have fun.”

The rapper’s booking agency, Mac Agency, also called out the decision in an Instagram Story that appears to have been taken down. “Super disappointed in @UnitedCenter,” the post read. “City of Chicago this their decision.”

Junnier and the Mac Agency, did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s requests for comment, nor did additional reps for NBA YoungBoy. A representative for Live Nation, which is producing the tour, also did not return a request for comment.

NBA YoungBoy kicked off his current tour in Dallas earlier this month, and it’s set to wrap Nov. 12 in Seattle. (His next show is scheduled for Sept. 25 in Columbus, Ohio.) The Make America Slime Again trek is YoungBoy’s first tour in five years and comes after he secured a pardon from President Donald Trump on gun charges. He released his most recent album, MASA, in July.
