Nightclub apologises for playing Kanye West’s ‘Heil Hitler’ for far-right influencers

Owners of a nightclub in Miami have issued an apology for playing Kanye West‘s ‘Heil Hitler’ at an event with far-right influencers.

Footage from the night has spread across social media in recent days, and shows a party being held at the Vendôme nightclub in Miami Beach, with the antisemitic song by the rapper playing in the background. Other footage from the night shows attendees chanting Nazi slogans and appearing to glorify Adolf Hitler, and some performing a Nazi salutes on their way to the club (as per Daily Mail).

Andrew and Tristan Tate were shown attending the event in the footage, as well as political commentator and far-right white nationalist activist Nick Fuentes, political commentator and social media personality Sneako, influencer Justin Waller, and streamer Clavicular. While they were seen at the nightclub, the footage does not show them taking part in the Nazi salutes or chanting the slogans.

The videos circulating online sparked widespread backlash, particularly from city leaders. Steven Meiner, mayor of Miami Beach called those attending the event “sick, demented people”, and demanded that there be a full investigation into why the song was played (as per CBS).

He also said that he was “deeply disturbed and disgusted by these videos of twisted individuals glorifying Hitler and the murder of millions”, and confused at why they were “welcomed into the club” when other operators “ban them”.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava also spoke out, saying that “hate has no home in Miami-Dade County” and that they “stand against antisemitism and all hate, and expect swift accountability to keep our community safe and respectful for all.”

Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine agreed, adding: “You’re disgusting human beings, and I don’t want to see you in Miami Beach”.

The operators at Vendôme have issued a statement acknowledging the hurt and apologising for the incident.

“We are aware of a video circulating online from one of our venues that includes content and imagery that are deeply offensive and unacceptable,’ they said. “We want to be unequivocally clear: Vendôme and our hospitality group do not condone antisemitism, hate speech, or prejudice of any kind.”

The statement also added that they were conducting an investigation to determine how and why the Kanye West song was played, had fired three employees that were involved, and added that it was “deeply disturbed by the harm caused by this incident and the circulation of this footage”.

The Tate brothers have distanced themselves from the incidents at the event, despite being seen bopping along to the antisemitic Kanye West song in footage shared online. Speaking to TMZ, their lawyer, Joseph McBride said: “If anyone wants to be angry, that anger belongs with the people who chose to play it and the people who chose to sing it.”

McBride continued to blame the venue, adding: “What I can say without qualification is this. Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate did neither. If the club is looking for someone to blame, it should start by looking in the mirror.

“Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate condemn antisemitism and any glorification of Adolf Hitler. Free speech is not a license for hate. There is a clear line between expressing views and promoting hatred. Andrew and Tristan reject hatred in all its forms.”

Sneako and Nick Fuentes, however, have not distanced themselves from the event in the same way, and instead shared a short video on Monday (January 19) addressing the backlash.

“We’re just a couple n****s hanging out,’ Sneako said (as per Daily Mail), while Fuentes added: “N****s going hard as fuck Society can’t handle it.”

Waller and Clavicular have not yet addressed the controversy.

West’s song was shared following the rapper going on many antisemitic tirades online over the past few years, and being banned from X/Twitter and Instagram multiple times over comments which violate their policies on hate speech.

He met up with a prominent New York rabbi called Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto last year to “take accountability” for the hurt caused, and apologise for his bipolar disorder allegedly causing him to lash out at the Jewish community.
