Olivia Dean’s ‘Man I Need’ Closes In On Australian Chart Record

It’s official: Olivia Dean is standing on Australia’s all-time chart podium.

The newly-minted breakthrough artist winner at the Grammy Awards holds top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart with The Art Of Loving, for its 10th non-consecutive weeks at No. 1. At the same time, “Man I Need” retains top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for the 16th consecutive week.

With that feat, “Man I Need” is the third longest-reigning single since the ARIA Charts were first published in 1983.

The English singer and songwriter is nipping at the heels of Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” (from 2025) and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” (2021-22), which are tied in second place on the all-time list, each with 17 weeks at No. 1. “Man I Need” is still some distance behind the greatest of all time, Tones And I’s “Dance Monkey,” which logged 24 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2019-2020.

Whatever happens, Dean’s reign on the ARIA Chart is the longest by a Brit.

“Man I Need” leads three Olivia Dean top 10 hits on the latest chart, published Friday, March 6, ahead of “Rein Me In” with Sam Fender, which holds at No. 2, and “So Easy (To Fall In Love),” down 3-4.

Alysa Liu played a hand in ensuring Dean didn’t dominate the top 3. The gold medal skater’s now-viral moment at the Winter Olympic Exhibition Gala gives a bump to PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson’ 2025 song “Stateside,” up 11-3 for a new peak position. PinkPantheress’ Fancy That, meanwhile, glides 39-6 on the albums chart, for a new peak position.

Texas artist Bella Kay enters the top 10 for the first time with the single “Iloveitiloveitiloveit,” which vaults 20-7; Alex Warren scores his fifth top 50 single as “Fever Dream” debuts at No. 20; and BLACKPINK bows at No. 30 with their DEADLINE EP. It’s the K-pop quartet’s 10th top 50 appearance on the national singles frame, including three top 10s and a groundbreaking No. 1 with 2022’s “Pink Venom.”

The only Australian-made title on the latest ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart belongs to Tame Impala, as “Dracula” lifts 21-17 for a new peak position.

Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Bruno Mars has the top debut with his fourth studio album, The Romantic. It’s new at No. 2. Mars also peaked at No. 2 in 2010 with Doo-Wops & Hooligans; went all the way to No. 1 for three weeks with 2013’s Unorthodox Jukebox; and hit No. 3 with 2016’s 24K Magic. Also, his Silk Sonic collaboration with Anderson Paak bagged a top 10 appearance with 2021’s An Evening With Silk Sonic, topping out at No. 4. The Romantic generates the top new debut on the ARIA Singles Chart, “Risk It All,” new at No. 13.

Mitski enjoys a career high with her eighth studio album, Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, which opens its ARIA Chart account at No. 3. That eclipses the No. 7 for her 2022 collection Laurel Hell.

Close behind is Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s “virtual band” Gorillaz, with The Mountain. It’s new at No. 4, for Gorillaz’s sixth top 10 appearance on the ARIA Chart, a tally that includes their 2010 leader Plastic Beach.

Finally, new album releases from Australia acts Pacific Avenue (Lovesick Sentimental at No. 17) and Telenova (The Warning at No. 28) impact the top 40 at first attempt.
