Olivia Rodrigo leads midweek standings with new single Stupid Song in line for Number One

Pop icon Olivia Rodrigo is dominating the UK singles landscape this week, emerging as the definitive frontrunner for the Number 1 spot with her latest hit, “Stupid Song.” Taken from her newly released third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, the track is positioned to become the California-born artist’s fifth career chart-topping single in the UK, marking her second leader of the calendar year following the previous success of “Drop Dead.”

According to the Official Singles Chart First Look, which compiles preliminary sales and early digital streaming reports, the arrival of Rodrigo’s new album has sparked massive consumer demand across the standings. The singer currently claims three positions inside the top five brackets alone. Her album track “The Cure” enters the midweek chart at Number 2, while her former number-one single “Drop Dead” experiences a substantial resurgence, climbing back up to the Number 4 position.

The ongoing live music landscape is also heavily influencing the national rankings. Following the launch of Harry Styles’ record-breaking 12-night residency at London’s Wembley Stadium, the British star is seeing significant upward movement for his catalog, with his track “American Girls” surging to Number 13 and his classic debut single “Sign of the Times” tracking at Number 31.

International acts are also poised to make a major splash inside the upcoming Top 40. Global K-pop icons BTS are on track to secure their 13th career UK Top 40 accolade with their latest release “Come Over” entering the charts at Number 22. Immediately behind them, fellow South Korean five-piece LE SSERAFIM are aiming for their first-ever UK Top 40 entry, with their collaborative track “ICONIC BY MISTAKE” featuring ILLIT and KATSEYE tracking closely at Number 23. Meanwhile, World Cup fever has propelled the tournament’s official anthem, “Dai Dai” by Shakira featuring Burna Boy, up to Number 27, while Manchester rapper Aitch enters the standings at Number 38 with his first track of the year, “RMB (Ring My Bell).”
